A BILL to amend and reenact section twenty-five, article six,
chapter twenty-nine of the code of West Virginia, one
thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, relating to
the state civil service system generally; requiring the
state affirmative action officer in the division of
personnel to make an annual report to the Legislature and
the governor; and requiring that certain information be
included in the annual report.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That section twenty-five, article six, chapter twenty-nine
of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-
one, as amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 6. CIVIL SERVICE SYSTEM.
§29-6-25. Affirmative action officer; required report to
governor and Legislature.
Effective the first day of January, one thousand nine
hundred ninety-four and on that date each year thereafter, thestate affirmative action officer in the division of personnel
shall file a report with the governor and the Legislature on the
status of the state's affirmative action program. The report
shall include: (a) A statistical analysis of the number of
members of each minority race employed in the workforce of state
government as compared to the number of members of each minority
race in this state; (b) a detailed affirmative action plan; and
(c) a timetable for achieving goals and objectives of an
affirmative action plan.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to require the
affirmative action officer in the division of personnel to file
an annual report with the Legislature and the Governor on the
status of the state's affirmative action program.
